ビジュ

びじゅ
ビジュ is clipped from ビジュアル (bijuaru, from English 'visual') and means someone's looks or appearance. The term entered Japan through K-POP fandom, where every group has a 'visual member' — the member considered most attractive. It spread rapidly on Japanese social media from 2023 onward and ranked second in Japan's trending-word rankings for 2025. The go-to patterns are ビジュがいい (good visuals), ビジュ良すぎ (visuals too good), and 今日のビジュやばい (today's visuals are insane). It's mainly used to hype up idols and celebrities, but it works for everyday life too — telling a friend 今日のビジュ最高 (today's look is top-tier). On the flip side, ビジュ終わってる (visuals are dead) is a popular bit of self-deprecating humor about looking rough.
