推し
Oshi
おし
Originally from 推しメン (oshi-men = your "recommended member"), used by idol fans to refer to their favorite member in a group. It means "the person you support and root for the most." In the 2020s, it expanded far beyond idols — you can have an 推し for anime characters, artists, YouTubers, food, places, basically anything you are passionate about. 推し活 (oshi-katsu = "oshi activities," supporting your oshi) has become a major keyword driving Japanese consumer culture, from buying merch to traveling to events.
