尊い
Toutoi
とうとい
Originally means 'sacred' or 'noble,' but otaku culture gave it a new life. Now it expresses the overwhelming emotion you feel when your oshi (favorite idol, character, etc.) does something so perfect that words fail you. 'Toutoi,' 'toutosugiru' (too precious), and 'toutomi ga fukai' (the preciousness runs deep) are all common forms. Since the late 2010s it has spread beyond fandom into everyday use — people say it about cute babies, heartwarming scenes, or anything that stirs deep emotion.
