ツッコミ

In manzai (Japanese stand-up comedy performed by a duo), the tsukkomi is the one who reacts to the boke's absurd statements with a sharp retort — often the classic "Nandeyanen!" ("What the hell!"). In everyday conversation, "tsukkomi wo ireru" (to put in a tsukkomi) means pointing out something ridiculous or contradictory someone just said. Common expressions include "tsukkomi ga tekikaku" ("spot-on tsukkomi") and "tsukkomi fuzai" ("no one around to call it out") — describing a situation where something absurd goes completely unchecked.
